The Telecare Service/ Community Alarm is an emergency service that assists people of all ages who need some extra support to live safely at home. It’s available to anyone who lives in North Ayrshire and gives you, your carer and your family peace of mind that you can call for assistance in an emergency, any time of the day or night.
We install an alarm unit by connecting it to a SIM or Broadband router in your home. Calling for help could not be easier - you simply press a button on a pendant, which can be worn around the neck or on a wrist strap. This dials our Alarm Receiving Centre which is managed and staffed by Hanover (Alarm Receiving Centre) 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The operator can speak to you through the alarm unit – you don’t need to lift the handset.
All alarm calls result in immediate voice contact being established with highly skilled operators at the Alarm Receiving Centre. Staff assess each situation and decide on the most appropriate action.
You should request this service from your local Social Services office or on discharge from Hospital. A member of staff will visit you to explain the system and discuss whether the service is right for your needs. If we agree that you could benefit from this service, we will arrange for the alarm unit to be installed. Community Alarm can also be accessed via self-referral on the Councils website.

Out with these times, the alarm receiving centre will contact your keyholders, family or next of kin, so it is essential that island residents can identify two keyholders. If you require emergency assistance, emergency services will also be contacted by the alarm centre.
